A beautiful, rarely offered hardy Fritillaria from central Asia from West China to Kazakstan. Quite easy to grow given good drainage. It is fully hardy, the bulb will usually work its way towards the surface as it grows.
It is an early flowering species, usually around March. The flowers are variable in colour, usually a rouge/chocolate outside and cream/orange inside with darker markings at the base. It likes full sun and good drainage, typical alpine conditions. It will grow about 30cm high with many flowers on each spike.
