Woodsia

Named after Joseph Woods (1776-1864), an architect and botanist, author of ‘A Tourist’s Flora’.

A genus of low growing species, 25 in all, found in mountainous regions. Fronds persist well into winter until the first hard frost.
These small alpine ferns are ideal for rock gardens, containers and alpine houses. They prefer shade (full to light) and well drained soil. Surprisingly easy to grow if given reasonable drainage.
