We are delighted to offer a beautiful tree fern, one that is definitely NOT taken from the wild!
These are not as hardy as Dicvksonia antarctica, and are a little fussier in their requirements. I had a specimen of this growing outside that, I thought, was killed by the harsh frosts in 2010/11. However later in the year a frond emerged from underground. This is a suckering tree fern so even if the fronds and trunk die off from frost then wait, you may be lucky! In growth this fern needs to be kept moist, including the trunk as well as its growing media. It needs a sheltered shady spot to do well and protection in the winter. It can be brought in during the winter but do be careful of spring and summer heat drying out the fern.
The quick growing long trunk makes this a beauty worth trying. The fern you will receive has masses of fronds to get it growing fast. Give it a rich friable soil to encourage downward growth and spray with water if required in hot dry conditions.
Due to the weight of this fern we can only supply to Ireland and Northern Ireland.
